Vietnam holds fifth spot in singapore seafood exports
Singapore imported seafood worth around S$546.14 million from around 100 countries and territories in the first half of 2024, marking a 3.42% decrease from the same period in 2023, according to Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, the national regulator of business entities, public accountants and corporate service providers in Singapore.
Among the top 15 seafood exporters to Singapore, Malaysia led the rankings, followed by Norway, Indonesia, and China. Vietnam maintained its fifth position, marking the first time it has held this spot over two consecutive quarters.
Vietnam’s seafood export revenue to Singapore increased by 0.81% in the first six months of 2024, securing a 9.46% market share, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Fresh fish exports experienced significant growth, rising by 25.42%. However, exports of fresh chilled fish declined by 26.93%, frozen fish exports dropped by 39.42%, and aquatic product exports fell by 23.08%.
The Vietnamese Trade Office in Singapore has advised that to boost market share and export value, Vietnamese exporters should focus on improving the quality of their seafood products. They should also actively engage in trade activities and form partnerships with Singaporean seafood associations and businesses to enhance their market presence.
